Adult Education top

The Adult Ed classes offer 5 subjects to prepare for your GED or to brush up on for
Additional college classes; Math, English, Science, Literature, & Social Studies.
This is a free program and everyone goes at his or her own pace, no pressure.
We offer classes, Official Practice Tests, and the Official GED Test. Pass all five
Subjects of the OPT and receive a Fee Waiver ($55) to take the Official GED Test free.

Butler County Success Program top

Butler County Success is a partnership among Edgewood, Fairfield, Lakota, Madison, Middletown, New Miami, Ross, and Talawanda Schools; Butler County Job & Family Services and Commissioners; and the Butler County Educational Service Center aimed at removing the barriers to learning that many children face daily.  The targeted population is children on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program or 200% below poverty.  For example, a family of four can make $42,400/year or $3,500 / month and qualify for the program.

Community Engagement & Service (CE&S), Miami University top

CE&S’s mission is to be a catalyst for mutually beneficial campus and community partnerships.  As part of Miami’s Division of Student Affairs, CE&S collaborates with local communities to develop and support sustainable opportunities for enhanced student learning through community engagement. We seek to foster a campus culture that guides students effectively through community-based experiences and encourages all who serve in our local communities to think critically, understand diverse contexts, reflect and then take purposeful action.


Family Resource Center (FRC) top

The mission of the Oxford Talawanda Community Services, Inc. is to create, provide and maintain coordination of the Family Resource Center; to offer referrals and selected basic living essentials; and to promote self-sufficiency for individuals and families in the Talawanda School District.

Head Start Program, Butler County Educational Service Center top

Head Start is a federally funded preschool program that provides services for income eligible families with children from ages three to five. Head Start serves more than 700 pre-school students in Butler County, offering health, nutrition, mental health, child development, and early education services. Ten percent of its enrollment is reserved for children with special needs. Head Start also helps families find agencies that assist with job skills development, employment searches, and family counseling. Oxford Community Arts Center top
The Oxford  Community Arts Center is a non-profit arts organization located in the  historic Oxford College for Women building.  OCAC’s mission is to  restore and maintain historic Oxford College as a permanent home for the  arts in the Oxford area, to facilitate activities of the community arts  organizations and to promote the arts and arts education.

Oxford Community Choice Pantry top

The Oxford Community Choice Pantry provides food assistance to residents of the Talawanda School District who experience food insecurities.  The Pantry is an affiliated choice pantry in Butler County that seeks to empower families and honor their dignity by giving them responsibility for their food choices while highlighting healthy options and providing nutrition education.

PUSH (People United for Self Help) top

PUSH (People United for Self Help) is a local, not-for-profit organization that provides assistance for essential repairs to eligible homeowners who, without such assistance, would be unable to make the repairs necessary for them to remain in their homes. Over the years PUSH has funded projects such as installing new furnaces, hot water heaters, roofs, and plumbing fixtures. Anyone who has been concerned about problems in his or her home, such as those mentioned above, and has not been able to obtain the necessary funds, should consider making an application to PUSH. Often representatives inspect project sites prior to the review by the PUSH Board.

If you are a low-income homeowner within the Talawanda School District, you may be eligible for assistance with repairs to your home. Call PUSH at 513.523.5859 for more information.

SELF (Supports to Encourage Low-Income Families) top

As Butler County's sole community action agency, Supports to Encourage Low-income Families (SELF) exists to enhance the quality of life for county residents by impacting the causes of poverty and empowering individuals to achieve, sustain, and advocate self-sufficiency.  SELF has many programs to pave the way to and support self-sufficient lifestyles, including: financial education to aid in financial independence; job development services and help including clothing; job search assistance and  job transportation; some emergency assistance; telephone discount assistance; and on-going supportive case management.

Oxford Senior Citizens, Inc. top

OSCI, is a gathering place for adults 50 years+ to enjoy leisure activities. A non-profit organization made up of over 600 members, OSCI provides supportive services including: Senior Transportation for 60+ and handicapped, serving Oxford and local area; Outreach Coordination to navigate the aging network; Support Groups-Parkinson’s and Caregivers; Nutrition Programs-congregate lunches and Home Delivered Meals; Crafts, Exercise and Recreational Activities. OSCI also operates the Community Adult Day Service-providing supportive care and activities for older adults with special needs.

Mercy Franciscan at St Raphael

A basic needs agency, assisting low income individuals and families with food, shelter, financial assistance, prescription assistance, clothing, health and vision screenings, baby items for new mothers, seasonal assistance, and more.   St Raphael offers prescription assistance and emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities at the Oxford Resource Center by appointment.   All services are offered at the Hamilton-based facility for residents throughout Butler County, on both a walk-in and appointment basis.   Call Oxford Family Resource Center for more information about scheduling an appointment in Oxford for the services offered there, or call 513-603-8200 to reach the automated information line at St Raphael's to get more information concerning services offered at the Hamilton facility.
